Ferrari adds yellow to celebration F1 livery for Italian GP
Ferrari will celebrate Monza’s 100th anniversary this weekend at the Italian Grand Prix with a special tweaked Formula 1 livery, adding its original yellow colour to the design.
Charles Leclerc qualified on pole position for the 2022 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, edging out Red Bull’s Max Verstappen by 0.145 seconds. Leclerc’s teammate Carlos Sainz was third, but will start from the back of the grid after taking a new power unit.
Leclerc’s pole position was his second of the season and his first at Monza. He had previously won the race in 2019, becoming the first Monegasque driver to win at the Italian circuit.
Verstappen will be hoping to challenge Leclerc for victory on Sunday, but he will need to get a good start and avoid any incidents if he is to take the win. Sainz will be hoping to make up ground from the back of the grid, but he will face an uphill battle.
The Italian Grand Prix is the 14th round of the 2022 Formula One season. The race will be held on Sunday, September 11th.
Here are some additional details about Leclerc’s pole position:
- It was his 17th career pole position.
- It was his second pole position of the 2022 season.
- It was his first pole position at Monza.
- It was Ferrari’s first pole position at Monza since 2019.
- It was Leclerc’s first pole position since the Spanish Grand Prix in May 2022.
Leclerc’s pole position was a popular result with the Ferrari fans, who were out in force at Monza. The Monegasque driver was greeted with a rapturous reception when he arrived at the circuit on Friday, and he was cheered on throughout qualifying.
Leclerc’s pole position is a good boost for Ferrari, who have struggled for pace in recent races. The Italian team will be hoping that Leclerc can convert his pole position into victory on Sunday, which would be a major boost in their title challenge.
